St. John Exploration & Relaxation

Does sitting around on a beach or poolside sound like the perfect vacation for you? What about your partner? Maybe you're someone who would rather snorkel, hike or go island bar hopping on a chartered boat trip. Lucky for you, St. John is the perfect destination for all of this. No one needs to sacrifice their dream vacation. You can have it all with a little give and take. Strike a balance and have the perfect stay at Andante by the Sea.

When You Want To Explore:

Get out there! Book your excursions, explore on your own, hit up Cruz and Coral Bay for dining and nightlife.

1. Drive the island in your rental (remember, we recommend it). It's the quickest way to take in St. John. Get a feel for all it has to offer with the windows down and the wind in your hair.

2. Hit the beaches! Just because you're at the beach doesn't mean you have to just sit there. Take a walk. Document your vacation with pictures and videos to show off some of the greatest beaches on Earth. Get in the water – swim or snorkel. Play some beach games. One thing is for sure, you could make a weeklong vacation out of trying to hit every beach on the island. Try it and be sure to let us know your favorite!

3. Hike in and around Virgin Islands National Park. There's so much nature and wildlife to explore on the island itself. For a rocky hike that's about a mile and lasts about an hour, give Ram Head Trail a try. You'll get a beautiful view of the Caribbean Sea after you walk along a blue cobble beach. Or for something a little shorter with more history, choose the Cinnamon Bay Self-Guided Trail. you'll hike half a mile through forested areas and through the ruins of a sugar plantation. Placards along the way designate points of interest. One you won't want to miss that's worth the work (2.4mi/2hrs) is Caneel Hill Trail. You'll be rewarded with what some say are the best views of all.

4. Explore snorkeling adventure! Get out there on a tour. They will take you to the best spots, provide the gear, and you can relax knowing you're in good hands. You may run into some sea turtles, angelfish, tang, parrotfish and even the occasional barracuda. If you'd rather do it yourself, there are plenty of great spots right off the beach. Try Maho Bay, Gibney and Oppenheimer Beach, Salomon Bay, Little Lameshur Bay (be sure to stop at Miss Lucy's for Sunday brunch), or Hansen Bay and Vie's Beach.

When You Want To Relax:

Stay at the villa! Why leave Andante when you have your own private pool, the ocean is just steps away, and there are amenities galore. Let the tradewinds rock you to sleep in the shaded hammock. Set up on the pool deck and rotate from lounge chair to pool and back again all day long. Hole up on your private deck off the master bedroom with a good book. Whatever you do to get a little R&R, you'll be sure to find you own favorite spot at Andante.
